Labor Day Festivities

Labor Day this year falls on Monday, September 6. Around the state, organized labor is getting geared up for Labor Day, a day when we celebrate and honor the hardworking men and women who fought for the rights we enjoy today.  Here is a rundown of events around the state, all of which are being held on Labor Day:

 Syracuse:
Labor Family Fun Day at the NYS Fair
All day Labor Day, families are invited to use their NYS Fair tickets
NOTE: There will be no Labor Day parade at the NYS Fair this year in Syracuse

 Ithaca:
Labor Day Picnic
11:00 am to 3:00 pm
Stewart Park, Ithaca
Special musical guest hip-hop group "Gunpoets" debuting their song "9-5" in honor of Labor Day

 Albany:
Labor Day Celebration and Picnic
Noon to 5:00 pm
Ganser Smith Memorial Park, Menands

 Rochester:
Labor Day Parade
This year's theme: Walk with Workers that Make Rochester Run!
Parade starts at 11:00, at East and Alexander Ave (lineup between 10:00 and 11:00)

 Buffalo:
Labor Day Parade and Mass
Mass at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Shrine (St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 450 Abbott Rd.)
Parade at 12:00 noon
Picnic immediately following at Cazenovia Park

Endorsement Process Announced for SEIU Local 200United

New, Interactive Format - Mark your Calendars

SEIU Local 200United released its new plan for candidate endorsements.

Between September 15 and September 21 (note calendar change), candidates will be invited by region to come from 5-8pm and speak about their platform and answer questions from members.  Please note that Local 200United is NOT using questionnaires this year, rather the online RSVP form along with the question and answer session will provide members with information they need to make the decisions regarding endorsement.
